My son joined Lincoln Judo Academy at 5 years old. He was a very quiet and shy little boy and didn't have a lot of confidence and would get upset very easily. Lincoln Judo Academy, especially Barry has completely changed that. I can't thank Barry enough for his patience, support and for making Ethan feel welcome and part of his club as soon as he walked through the door. He makes the sessions fun but also teaching discipline and skills. Ethan has now been at the club for 2 years and absolutely loves judo. His teacher at school has commented and said Ethan has gained so much more confidence. Ethan's dad Kevin thought the club and judo looked brilliant and having seen what it's done for Ethan, he wanted to also be part of it. so now Kevin also does judo, and enters in regular competitions as the club provides you with the opportunities to progress. I can't recommend LJA highly enough, they are absolutely fantastic and we are so pleased that we found you.

My 11 year old son took up judo 4 years ago, initially at another club. After 2 years, in 2015 we transferred to LJA . What a difference!  He absolutely loves the atmosphere and challenges here. He finds the sessions a lot of fun and is inspired by Barry and the team to push himself harder, to become more confident in himself. As a child who suffers from mild Autism, this structured, well-taught judo club has helped build up my son's confidence and taught him how to control his emotions and to express them through the sport. He enjoys the competitions as much as he does the weekly training sessions. I have seen such changes in Xavier since joining LJA, he has become so much more confident in himself which has had positive impact outside of judo, he is more controlled and focused at school and has learnt to control his outbursts.  I cannot say what a difference LJA has made to all our lives. I would say we have become part of a 'family'. I m so thankful that we discovered this amazing club and its team.

Our daughter's adventure with judo started when she was 5 years old. Unfortunately it wasn't with Barry and his team. Everything changed when we moved to Lincoln. Amelia joined LJA and it was a great choice!! It has been a pleasure to see her progress after each training session. Barry is a great coach. He is professional, focused and determined with a great talent for working with kids. We are very proud of our daughter that after 2 years of hard work at LJA, she has become a British Judo Champion in November 2017. We are very happy that our son Adam has also decided to join the club. He is 5 years old and really loves it. Each day he keeps asking when the next judo class is. Thank you for everything, coach and all the team. Your great influence and concern for our kids reflects on how they follow you with respect. It is a big privilege to be part of this judo family.

In September 2017, the Academy set up a very successful after-school club at Fosse Way Academy. It is proving to be a very popular club where children are progressing quickly and really enjoying themselves.

Andy Coupland, Deputy Headteacher - Fosse Way Academy

Lincoln Judo Academy is an outstanding sports club. Both my children and I thoroughly enjoy being part of it.  Barry is an amazing Sensei; an exceptional coach who brings out the best in every student, instilling respect whilst ensuring the sessions are fun.  There is a positive, friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the club that makes people want to be part of it.  My children have benefited greatly from their involvement in the club, as it has hugely developed their confidence and fitness, as well as providing them with the opportunity to meet lots of new friends in a safe, respectful and fun environment.  As a PE teacher who has previously been involved in many sports clubs, I consider Barry and Lesley to have built Lincoln Judo Academy into the best coaching and learning environment and I would strongly recommend the club to people of all ages and levels of experience.

My daughter started judo with Lincoln Judo Academy nearly 2 years ago and was instantly hooked. At her first session Lesley made her feel very welcome and Barry nicknamed her 'Brown haired girl', a nickname she loves!  I honestly cannot fault Barry and his team.  He is an incredible humble, respectful and polite man who has an amazing way with the children.  They hang on every word he says. He is the loudest quietest man I have ever met!  Not only is he an amazing man, he is also an exceptional coach.  My daughter has gone from strength to strength and her gold medal tally keeps growing.  So much so that her two brothers wanted some of the action and are now also training with the Academy.  I cannot sing Lincoln Judo Academy's praises enough and guarantee that you or your children will not be disappointed.
