Who is Barry Cooper?
Barry Cooper is the founder and Head Coach of Lincoln Judo Academy. Barry has dedicated his life to the competitive sport of Judo, becoming three times British Champion, 7 times Welsh Open Champion, 7 times Essex Champion and 5 times London Open Champion. Barry was also European Silver medalist at Free-style Wrestling, as well as Bronze medalist in the under 23 year old World Free-Style Championships. Barry's wrestling experience works hand in hand with judo, adding additional skills and techniques at competition level.
Barry is a 2nd Dan and Level 2 coach with over 20 years experience. Barry coaches from beginner to advanced level within the Lincolnshire area. With 4 locations within the Lincoln and surrounding areas, as well as sessions run within schools, Barry has been able to achieve his dream of making Judo accessible to the local community, encouraging the young and old to take up the sport.
Supported by a team of fully qualified instructors, Lincoln Judo Academy has gone from strength to strength since the Academy was founded in 2008. The club and its members participate in competitions around the country throughout the year. From small beginner entry-level competitions to national events, the club encourages it's judoka to enjoy the competitive world of Judo.
